Get to Know Melissa Stover, Intern
Hello! I’m Melissa Stover, a counseling intern passionate about supporting others, especially children and adolescents, through their unique journeys of healing and self-discovery. My personal experiences as a survivor of childhood abuse and neglect have profoundly shaped my approach, and I firmly believe that every individual possesses the capacity for growth and resilience.
Specializing in Trauma-Focused therapy, I utilize techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and mindfulness practices that allow young people to process their emotions and experiences in a safe environment. In addition, I incorporate faith-based elements into my counseling for those who want to explore how spiritual beliefs can provide comfort and direction during challenging times.
I strive to create a supportive space where clients can explore their identities, confront their fears, and find meaning in their experiences. My background working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), waitress, and stay-at-home mom has granted me insights into the complexities families face, reinforcing my commitment to compassionate care.
If you or a child in your life are seeking support on your journey toward healing and self-empowerment, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can explore past experiences and work toward a brighter future filled with hope and possibility.
I am recommended by Psychology Today as a provider for Alabama.
