Russell Brand, Graduate Student
I am honored to walk alongside clients as they work toward healing and stability. I support individuals and families navigating stress, crisis, transition, and personal growth by offering a counseling space grounded in respect, compassion, and practical care.
My clinical interests include supporting first responders, medical personnel, veterans, justice-involved individuals, adolescents, and families. My approach draws from evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy (SFBT), and client-centered care, with an emphasis on trust, resilience, practical support, and meaningful progress.
Professional Career
Before entering the counseling field, I served for more than 28 years in Alabama’s criminal justice system, including leadership roles in law enforcement, juvenile probation, and community corrections. My experience working with adolescents, families, first responders, and justice-involved individuals has shaped a steady, practical, and client-focused approach to care. My wife and I also serve as senior leaders at New Day Christian Center in Boaz, Alabama.
Education
Currently attending Jacksonville State University seeking a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Previously I earned an undergraduate degree in Social Sciences in Secondary Education and maintain an Alabama Professional Educator Certificate. Across my professional and counseling development, I have gained deep experience with families of troubled adolescents, individuals affected by crisis, and people working through difficult transitions. My goal is to provide a safe, encouraging space where clients feel heard, supported, and equipped to move toward healing, stability, and hope.
