A Daypsring Update
Can you believe that it’s been over 23 years since Dayspring began? 23 Years! Our motto from the beginning has been ‘Compassionate Care for the Hurting Soul’, and we continue that tradition today.
A change has happened at Dayspring: our longtime director, Terry Nelson, LPC-S, has retired. Terry has been with Dayspring from the beginning, and in his retirement he volunteers on our Board of Directors.
Changes have happened, but we will continue to provide Christian counseling. We are very blessed and honored to be allowed to serve our community by providing professional counseling services to those in need.
Dayspring is a Non-profit 501(c)3
All monetary donations are tax deductible for you.
At Dayspring we help clients who have health insurance coverage, and they are the majority of our clients. We love working with our clients to help them when times are difficult. Our counselors are providers for most of the major insurance companies, and some EAP programs. We use these earnings to help fund community mental health.
We also help people who need counseling but do not have insurance coverage, or cannot pay the high copays for their insurance. Helping our community requires some financial support. We help families, teens, and individuals including women staying in our local domestic violence shelter, women in a local jobs program, moms and dads who are referred by the Crisis Pregnancy Center, and couples referred by local pastors.
Our donors have been very generous in the past and we are so thankful for them! Please consider being a donor and helping us to pay it forward by helping others.
If you are part of a local community organization and want your group to hear more about Dayspring we will be happy to speak to your group.
Kristy has been a licensed counselor for over 27 years and has counseled at Dayspring for over 18 years.
Meet our Executive Director

All Cancers All Care
support group
Dayspring was thrilled to have hosted the first cancer support group in our office. The group met every Tuesday evening starting January 7th, and continued for the next 6 weeks, 5:15pm-6:30pm. The group provided a safe space for those diagnosed with cancer, to encourage each other on the hard days and celebrate with each other on the good days.
Leader: Jenny Knight.
Co-leader: Kristy Walker
Supporting local Businesses
For our February staff meeting, Dayspring staff met at the new locally owned coffee shop, Taste and See Coffee. The owner and staff of the coffee shop were so gracious and we loved their upstairs art room. You should go see them.
Local industries find ways to support community mental health
Dayspring has received recognition from 2 Albertville, AL manufacturing companies that want to be supportive of community mental health. One company has provided a grant of $2,500 for Dayspring’s counseling services to continue in our community for victims of domestic violence, unplanned pregnancies, veterans, and neighbors who need a little help.
The other company has contracted with Dayspring to provide counseling services to their employees, and to the family members of each employee. The counselor will be onsite during select hours, and can provide in office or Telehealth services. By funding this program the company is also supporting all our neighbors.
There are many ways you can help support community mental health.
Of course you can donate money or you can also volunteer your time and energy. We have community service projects for groups and individuals.
